Tui Na – Concentration SP322G (60 hours, 5.0 units)
Tuina, like acupuncture and herbal medicine, has developed over thousands of years of clinical observation and practice. It is the oldest recorded system of bodywork in the world. This class offers more in depth studies on the fundamental theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the integral part that Tuina, the physical component of the system, plays in traditional medicine. Students will learn to identify patterns of disharmony in their clients using the Five Elements and the Eight Principles of Differentiation and will also be able to design treatments to help bring the disharmony back into balance. The emphasis will be learning the Shanghai “oscillating” methods of Tuina, 50+ major acupoints and treatments for major structural disorders as well as internal organ disharmonies. There will also be instruction in traditional herbal medicine and a field trip to a local Chinese herb store.
