Contemporary Methods of Massage & Bodywork Group B
The two groups of Contemporary Methods of Massage & Bodywork courses are designed to expose students to new areas and kinds of bodywork and develop more advanced skills in a number of approaches. Contemporary Methods Group B (comprised of three co-requisite courses) is comprised of three courses: Sensory Repatterning I, Somatic Psychology, and Clinical Applications I.
- Clinical Applications I – CMB-1 (30 hours, 1.5 credits): Students integrate new skills and modalities into client sessions with the support of instructors at the Massage Therapy Center. The development of client relationship skills is emphasized.
- Sensory Repatterning – CMB2 (30 hours, 3.0 credits): The artful application of passive movement to create feeling state of grace and ease in the body that, in turn, elicits positive tissue response. Cultivation of vision (intention), sensitivity (receptivity), and rhythm (pacing) are emphasized.
- Somatic Psychology -CMB-3 (20 hours, 2.0 credits): The study of how the psyche may be understood and approached through the body. Students address the psychological attitudes embodied in particular physical structures.
Prerequisite: Contemporary Methods of Massage & Bodywork Group A courses (Asian Healing Arts I CMA-1, Circulatory Massage Applications CMA-2, Deep Tissue Sculpting CMA-3, and Somatic Assimilation CMA-4)
